DisArt Festival 2015

The inaugural DisArt Festival was launched in Grand Rapids in the spring of 2015 as a way to change perceptions about disability, one work of art at a time. The multi-venue festival helped facilitate important conversations and dialogue regarding community, identity, and difference that are still going strong. KCAD Communications played a key role in the event, developing the advertising, graphics, and event program.

Commencement 2014/2015 Collateral

Commencement is a time to celebrate both the extraordinary accomplishments of our graduates and the bright futures that lay ahead of them. Our commencement theme is “Impact,” because that’s exactly what KCAD grads aim to create as they head out into the world to make their mark with art and design that matters. KCADCommunications provides photographic, video, and written coverage of the commencement ceremonies in addition to developing graphics and layouts for all print collateral and digital platforms.

KCAD Identity

Like all great brands, KCAD’s has evolved significantly over the years. As the college has grown in size and scope, both our logo and our name have changed a number of times. The creative energy flowing throughout our campus, however, has remained constant. Our latest re-brand reflects this energy visually to the world with a bold, contemporary aesthetic that represents our place on the cutting edge of art and design education.

Pulso: Arte de las Américas

Held inside The Fed Galleries @ KCAD, Pulso: Art of the Americas showcased the breadth of artistic expression in the Americas. By exploring the ways in which regional boundaries affect the perception of art, the exhibition sparked discussions about cultural preconceptions surrounding contemporary art and encouraged viewers to appreciate the richness of cultural differences. KCAD Communications provided marketing support for the exhibition through graphics development, advertising, signage, PR, and printed materials.

Wege Prize 2014

Wege Prize is a yearly transdisciplinary design competition that gives teams of five a chance to work collaboratively, use design-thinking principles, and contend for $30,000 in total cash prizes, all while helping to show the world what the future of problem solving looks like. In addition to developing, organizing, and implementing the competition and its corresponding education experiences, KCAD Communications offers complete marketing support through graphics development, advertising, print collateral, website management, and photographic, video, and written coverage.

Other work

Below are some of my works from when I was an undergrad at Kendall College of Art and Design

Thesis Project

You can never reach the horizon, no matter how close you get. It’s a metaphor that transformed from an idea I had about technology. You can never really reach the best of the best because as soon as the latest piece of technology comes out, something better immediately surpasses it. I set aside the idea of technology for the final piece, but stuck with the metaphor. Here, I attempt to make the intangible horizon tangible through photography.

Fulton Street Farmers Market: The Diehards

You can view my first TV spot here.
This campaign depicts the diehards of the farmer’s market. Fulton Street Farmer’s Market is so great,
they’ll stop at nothing to get their fix.

No Reservations: Camp With Confidence

This is a multimedia campaign for a new organization, No Reservations: Camp with Confidence. This project gives people who don’t camp, whether they have ever or never been, but would like to, a place to interact with avid campers, share stories, photos, videos and ask any questions they have about camping. The clean, minimal approach of the website and app is to help make camping feel a little less intimidating.

Human Rights #16 Poster

This is a poster for the 16th Human Right: All people deserve the right to peacefully obtain basic human necessities in times of dire need including food, water, and basic shelter, even if it violates the Law.

The Squeaker

This is a personal book of short stories and poems I have written. This publication is a glimpse into who I am: I love to write and decided that compiling all of my work into a book and designing it myself would add to the personal quality it has. I am the squeaker and this is what I have to say.

Holy Cross Orthodox Church Pamphlet: Russian/English

This is a brochure for Holy Cross Orthodox Church in Dorr, MI. They are reaching out to a Russian community traditional, reaching out to Russian community so two brochures were created: one in English and one in Russian. The traditional feel of the piece reflects the traditions of the church and the colors tie in with the icons that adorn the church.
